Buy Herbal Supplements

When you buy an herbal supplement, there are two things to always look out for!

There was a time in the past when buying an herbal supplement meant a trip to the local herbalist or apothocary. It sometimes took days to make what you needed, and many times the right herbs simply wern't available.

Nowdays, if you want an herbal supplement, it usually just requires a few clicks of a mouse. 2-3 days later, you can come home to the mailman handing you your herbal remedy. Or, you can drive down to the local GNC, and find many supplements and herbal remedies that are ready-made... no apothocary needed!

The only problem is... you may not be buying the right supplement.

"What? What do you mean? It says here on the bottle horse chestnut...you mean it may not be horse chestnut?"

Well, I would say that i'm sure it's horse chestnut...but what kind of horse chestnut, and whether it will do you any good if it is the right species... this is what you need to know.

Two Things To Look For Beforing Buying Any Herbal Supplement:

1: Make sure you are buying the EXACT type of the herb you need.
Ginseng is a great example of an herb that has 3 types...american, siberian, and oriental. If you want energy, the oriental ginseng is the best. But just because you buy a product with the word "Ginseng" on the label doesn't mean it will be oriental ginseng...it could be american, or siberian. So make sure you are getting the correct type of the herb.

2: Make sure you know the active compound, and that the supplement you buy has the proper amount to make a difference.
For example, the herb horse chestnut has a compound called Aescin. It's the Aescin that is responsible for increasing vein wall strength and eliminating varicose veins. However, I've seen horse chestnut products you can buy with almost no Aescin anywhere in it! Buying these products will not help you do much of anything, except waste time and money on an herbal treatment that won't work.

So make sure you know the exact type of herb you are buying, as well as the concentration of the active ingredient. Know these two things, and you will be a better prepared, more empowered herbal supplement consumer.
