Garlic Remedies For High Blood Pressure -

Garlic seems to be referenced by nearly every alternative medicine practicioner as a "cure all" remedy. And it does seem to be very effective against some ailments. Most commonly, galic is thought of as "heart healthy"... ie: it is good for the heart, arteries, and cardiovascular system. But what makes garlic so popular as a heart healthy herb? And how much is necessary to receive the benefits?

Find Out Why Garlic Works And How Much To Take To Reduce Hypertension:

Need A Hypertension Natural Remedy?

Garlic: Garlic is a very popular herbal remedy for hypertension for several reasons. It is cheap - all it takes is a clove or two of garlic per day to help the heart, and a whole bulb of galic is usually no more than $0.50 each. Also, it is accessable. Most grocery stores will have it, and even regional and local markets in other countries will often carry fresh garlic. Last but not least, it is used in many culinary dishes. Galic is a very popular spice...which makes it common to find in a wide variety of mainstream and ethnic dishes.

There have been a variety of published studies, some of which are listed on the National institutes of Health website, and another major study published by Dr. Bordia. It found several natural compounds in garlic, including allicin, have been proven to reduce cholesterol.

A general overview of 7 seperate controlled studies on garlic found that garlic improved blood pressure in nearly all, and 4 of which were statistically significant.

Another study conducted at Saarland University in Germany found garlic contains another compound called Ajone, and it helps blood flow and dissolve potentially dangerous clots quickly.

There was another study that 50 med students conducted in India. They each ate 3 cloves of garlic per day, and found their blood clotting time and clot dissolution activity rose by 20%. HerbalRemediesThatWork.Com doesn't have any data for how long or over what time period these studies were conducted. The editors assumption is that the clotting effect takes place quickly, within several hours of consuming garlic.

Dosage: from 1 large clove of garlic daily, to 5 large cloves a day. Or, up to 2400 mg of allicin daily.

Side Note: It is not known completely whether cooking garlic, which can diminish the allicin, will reduce the effect it has on blood pressure. Garlic contains other organic compounds which are believed to also work to lower blood pressure. Further study is needed to determine why exactly cooked garlic DOES help decrease blood pressure...To what extent however, and how it compares with raw garlic? This is what needs further study.

Side effects: other than a possible allergic reaction, none have been reported.
